Exhibe Peru Fashion Show

A couple of weeks ago I was invited by the Ministry of Commerce and Tourism to a fashion show. The idea was really great: pairing fashion designers with communities of artisans. Sadly, the quality of what was presented there wasn't what I expected. There were some nice designs and executions but there were some poor ones too. I leave you with pictures so you can decide for yourselves.

Hace un par de semanas el Mincetur me invitó a un desfile de modas que era el evento de inauguración de la feria Exhibe Perú. La idea me pareció genial: formar equipos con diseñadores de modas y grupos de artesanos (CITEs). Lamentablemente, la calidad de lo presentado no era lo que yo esperaba. Sí hubieron algunos buenos diseños y ejecuciones pero también hubieron algunos que dejaron mucho que desear. Aplaudo más a algunos diseñadores que a otros. Les dejo las fotos que tomé para que puedan decidir por ustedes mismos.

I just feel happy whenever I use this ring. It's colorful, it has a lot of different textures and it's oversized. I love it. I was wearing it today and I felt like taking pictures of it. It's Kenneth Cole and I bought it in SF.

Me siento feliz cada vez que uso este anillo. Es colorido, tiene diferentes texturas y es enorme! Me encanta. Lo estaba usando hoy y me dieron ganas de tomarle fotos. Es Kenneth Cole y lo compré en SF.

I don't have to be pretty

I'm feeling a little moody today. I was browsing the web and stumbled upon Gareth Pugh Spring 2010 Ready to Wear Collection. I felt like it just captured what I was feeling. Today I say: I don't have to be pretty, brush my hair or use a girly skirt. At least not today.

Hoy me siento algo malhumorada. Estaba viendo diferentes webs y me encontré con la colección Ready to Wear de Primavera 2010 de Gareth Pugh. Sentí que simplemente capturaba lo que estaba sintiendo. Así que hoy día digo: No tengo que ser bonita, peinarme o usar ropa femenina. No hoy, por lo menos.

Designer to watch | Omar Valladolid

It's a little difficult to find great peruvian designers for men's clothing. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of extremely talented designers in Peru, but most of them design for women. That's why I'm happy to show some of Omar Valladolid's work. He is self taught and fabulous. His work in powerful and chic at the same time. He is one of the designers to watch.

Es algo difícil encontrar grandes diseñadores peruanos para ropa masculina. No me malinterpreten, hay gran talento en la moda peruana, pero la mayoría de diseñadores crean ropa de mujer. Por eso me hace muy feliz poder mostrarles algo del trabajo de Omar Valladolid. Él es autodidacta y eso me parece fabuloso. Su trabajo es transgresor y chic a la vez. Él es uno de los diseñadores que debemos tener presentes, porque seguiremos viendo grandes cosas de él.
