Flashmode 2010: Katha Puga [Young Designer]

I don't know why it took me so long to post about Katha Puga's collection for Flashmode 2010. She's very talented and is also a good friend of mine. Maybe I didn't really want to post the pictures of her catalogue (because I'm on it). But I can't let more time pass by.


"Coberturas Humanas" is the name of the collection. Black, pleats, tales and lots and lots of details. This collection impressed me specially because of the accessories, which prove to be very versatile statement pieces.


No sé por qué me demoré tanto en escribir sobre la colección de Katha Puga para el Flashmode 2010. Ella es una diseñadora muy talentosa y también una buena amiga mía. Quizás no quería postear las fotos de su catálogo porque aparezco en él (algo de timidez?). Pero definitivamente no podía dejar que pase más tiempo. 


Negro, pliegues, colas y muchos muchos detalles. Así es la colección "Coberturas Humanas". Esta es una colección que me impresionó sobre todo por los accesorios, que son "statement pieces" muy versátiles.

Flashmode 2010: Sandra Fernandez del Rio [Young Designer]

I am impressed by her creativity and artistic spirit. Sandra Fernandez wants to communicate through fashion and in a contest where the inspiration was architecture, she used a strong and different concept. The architecture of the human body. Genius.

I am very interested by her creation process for this collection. Sandra has marked different stages to go from the strictly conceptual to wearable garments that still maintain a strong point of view. I am also intrigued by how, in this process, she has gone from the first stages where she experimented with the human body, sometimes deforming its shape and sometimes exaggerating it; to the last stage where everything evolved to accommodate to the body and emphasize its essence. It seems like in that experimentation process she discovered the perfection of the human body.

Estoy impresionada por su creatividad y espíritu artístico. Sandra Fernandez quiere comunicar a través de la moda y en un concurso donde la inspiración era la architectura, ella usó un concepto fuerte y diferente a lo esperado. El cuerpo humano como arquitectura perfecta. Genial.

Me interesa mucho el proceso de creación para esta colección. Las etapas que Sandra ha marcado para llegar de lo estrictamente conceptual a prendas completamente usables pero que mantienen un fuerte punto de vista. Me sorprende también cómo, en este proceso, ella ha pasado de la experimentación con el cuerpo, deformándolo o exagerando ciertas características en algunos casos, en las primeras etapas, para llegar a prendas que más bien se acomodan y enfatizan la esencia del cuerpo. Pareciera como si después de ese proceso de experimentación descubriera la perfección de cuerpo.

Naty Muñoz @Flashmode 2010

Naty Muñoz was the special guest at Flashmode 2010. She won last year and, because of that, she was invited to the Ethical Fashion Show in Paris this year where she presented this collection. I love the combination of textures, the updated color palette and the peruvian + african feeling.


Naty Muñoz fue la invitada especial en el Flashmode 2010. Ella ganó el año pasado y por ello fue invitada al Ethical Fashion Show en Paris este año, en donde presentó esta colección. Me encantó la inteligente combinación de texturas, la paleta de color tan actual y el feeling peruano + africano (lo último se marcó sobre todo en el styling).

Flashmode 2010: Carla Reaño [Young Designer]

I've known her for a while now and she keeps surprising me with her levels of creativity and her bold style, which is characterized for futuristic and oriental influences. Carla Reaño graduated last year from Mod'Art Peru with a collection that already defined her style and that caught my attention for its morphology.


This year Carla presents her collection "Polhyedron". The collection is inspired by spatial geometry, using geometrical figures to create garments with a clean cut and a futuristic feel. Again, she proves to have a special sensibility to work with volume and textures. This time with more wearable garments, which maintain faithful to her style.

La conozco ya hace varios meses y siempre me sorprende su nivel de creatividad y su estilo osado, siempre con matices futuristas y algo orientales. Carla Reaño se graduó el año pasado de Mod'Art Peru con una colección que ya marcaba su estilo y que me llamó mucho la atención por su manejo morfológico.


Este año Carla presenta su colección "Polhyedron" que tiene como punto de partida la geometría espacial, haciendo uso de figuras geométricas para elaborar prendas de cortes limpios y futuristas. Carla nuevamente prueba tener una sensibilidad muy especial para el manejo de volúmenes y texturas, esta vez con prendas mucho más usables, pero que se mantienen fieles a su estilo.
