HEART SCAPE by Mozhdeh Matin

Mozhdeh Matin is a peruvian designer that is not conventional at all. For that reason, it was no surprise for me when she decided to present her collection without a runway or models.

Motion pictures that seemed out of an Akira Kurosawa film, but that were in fact an original video shot by Mitsuo Maruyama with Sena Cho as actress/model. Live music that completed those images; violin, harp and beatbox included. Installation art by Anisa Matin that was an extension of the video's concept and that displayed the garments with certain mistery. A collection that showed the consistent progression of a talented designer. That was Heart Scape.

Mozhdeh Matin es una diseñadora peruana que no tiene nada de convencional. Por eso no me sorprende que haya presentado su colección sin desfile ni modelos. 


Imágenes que parecían sacadas de una película de Akira Kurosawa pero que eran un video original por Mitsuo Maruyama con actuación/modelaje de Sena Cho. Música en vivo que complementaba las imágenes con violín, arpa y beatbox incluído. Una instalación por Anisa Matin que continuaba el ambiente del video y a la vez exponía las prendas con cierto misterio. Una colección que muestra la progresión coherente de una talentosa diseñadora. Eso fue Heart Scape.

Koma for Topshop

I like it when great designers create more accessible collections for non-luxury brands. So I was happy to hear that David Koma designed a capsule collection for Topshop. He presented stunning bodycon dresses with cool details like the metal cylinders you can see on the pics. Yay for Koma!

Me encanta cuando grandes diseñadores crean colecciones más accesibles para marcas grandes, así que me alegró saber que David Koma diseñó una colección cápsula para Topshop. Koma presentó espectaculares vestidos en los que la consciencia del cuerpo juega un papel importante, con detalles geniales como los cilindros metálicos.

Ziggy Stardust

Apparently, 2010 has been the year of David Bowie's references in fashion. To be honest I hadn't noticed this, because I never really followed the rock star, but a friend of mine sent me the style file where they make the influence obvious. I didn't know he had such an amazing style (pardon my ignorance, I'm not your average rocker girl) but now I feel like watching a lot of his videos. I can see now that he never had the fear to stand out, which is a quality that I admire.

Aparentemente el 2010 ha sido el año de referencias de Bowie en las pasarelas. La verdad es que no lo había notado porque nunca seguí mucho al rockero, pero una amiga me mandó el link del style file donde hacen referencia a su influencia (gracias Malu!) y me pareció divertido compartirlo con ustedes. No sabía que tenía un estilo tan genial (disculpen la ignorancia, no soy muy rockera), creo que voy a comenzar a ver todos sus videos! ahora me doy cuenta de que Bowie nunca tuvo miedo de sobresalir y diferenciarse de la multitud, una cualidad que admiro mucho.
